Welcome to the Systems Biology and Bioinformatics group at the Departement of Mathematical Sciences. The focus of our research is application of statistical methods, mathematical modeling, computational techniques and tool development in solving biological problems. Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary area and we collaborate closely with colleagues in the departments of Cell and Molecular Biology, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics, Medical Biochemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Biotechnology, and we are participants in the Chalmers e-Science Initiative. Thus, bioinformatics subfields like sequence bioinformatics, structure prediction and comparative bioinformatics have been established and developed quickly in the last decades. So have statistical and computational techniques in genomics, the biological science of studying genetic and molecular systems by large scale experimental and computational methods.
